PRSI hearing aid grant basics
If you have enough PRSI contributions, the Department of Social Protection Treatment Benefit scheme can contribute toward hearing aids.
HearMed audiologists are on the panel. When you qualify, the grant comes off at the point of sale. You do not pay full price and claim it back yourself.

The headline figures
Up to €500 per ear, or up to €1,000 for both ears, once every four years under Treatment Benefit rules in force for this pathway.
A separate repair contribution of up to €100 every four years may also apply. Confirm current rules on Citizens Information or gov.ie if your situation is unusual.
Who should ask us to check
Insured workers, many self-employed people, and some retirees with enough contributions. Dependent spouses may qualify in some cases.
Bring your PPS number to the appointment. We check eligibility rather than guessing from a blog post.
How it fits with HearMed prices
Clinic hearing tests stay free. Hearing aids start from fully covered basic PRSI models where appropriate; advanced models start from €350 per aid after the grant (€850 before).
You still choose the right technology for your audiogram and daily life. The grant reduces what you pay; it does not force a single model.
