Free online hearing check, with a clinic test when you need one
Use the hearing check below on this page. Keep headphones on, sit somewhere quiet, and follow the on-screen steps. You do not leave HearMed to run the screen.
An online screen is a rough guide only. Room noise, headphone quality and device volume all change the result. It cannot look in your ears for wax or replace a clinic audiogram. If anything worries you, book a free in-clinic test, about 45 to 60 minutes, with no GP referral needed for the private appointment.

Free online hearing check
Use headphones in a quiet room and keep your device volume at a comfortable level. This screen stays on this page. It is a rough check only, not a clinic audiogram or a diagnosis.
After the screen, book a free in-clinic test if you want a full audiogram, an ear check for wax, and a clear next step with an audiologist.
How to take the online check
Wear headphones or earphones. Set your device volume to a comfortable mid level before you start. Stay on this page while the check runs. Allow sound if your browser asks.
What the online screen cannot do
It cannot examine your ears for wax, infection or a collapsed canal. It cannot fit or verify hearing aids. Treat the score as a prompt to get checked, not as a diagnosis or a fitting guide.
What you get in clinic
At HearMed we start with otoscopy (looking in the ears). If wax is blocking the view, we tell you before we test. The hearing test itself is done in a quiet setting and includes speech-in-noise work when it helps. You leave with an explanation of the graph in ordinary words. Age 12 and over.
Cost of the real test
The HearMed clinic hearing test is free. If wax removal is needed first, that is €60 in clinic or €100 at home, using microsuction rather than syringing.
If aids are recommended
Aids can start from fully covered basic PRSI models when you qualify. Advanced models from €350 per aid after the PRSI grant (€850 before). Grant: up to €500 per ear, €1,000 for both ears, once every four years, taken off at the till when you qualify. Four-year warranty, 60-day money-back, free batteries for life on paid aids.
